Every Benchmade knife is built to last, and we stand behind that promise with a limited lifetime warranty. If something goes wrong due to a manufacturing defect, we’ll repair or replace it free of charge. Our goal is simple: to keep your knife in use for life.
What’s Covered
If your knife experiences a manufacturing defect in materials or workmanship, we’ll repair or replace it at no cost. This includes:
- Internal mechanisms (springs, locks, washers)
- Handle hardware or structural failure
- Functional issues not caused by misuse or modification
If your knife experiences the same failure within 60 days of being serviced by Benchmade, we’ll cover the return shipping for additional service. If the issue occurs three times consecutively, we’ll offer alternative solutions.
We do not sharpen or repair non-Benchmade knives.
What’s Not Covered
The following are not covered under warranty unless a factory defect is confirmed:
- Blade and handle replacements
- Damage from misuse, neglect, or improper sharpening
- Cosmetic wear (scratches, coatings, finish)
- Knives that have been disassembled or altered outside of Benchmade guidelines
Blade replacements typically cost 1/3 of the original MSRP. Handle replacements are generally 1/4 of MSRP. Liners may incur a $10 fee, and bolsters may include additional cost.
All pricing is subject to part availability and may vary by model or material.
Once your knife is received and checked in, you’ll get a confirmation email.
Not sure if your issue is covered?
Go ahead and send it in. Our team will inspect your knife and work with you to determine the best course of action. If it’s covered under warranty, we’ll handle the repair at no cost. If not, we’ll let you know any costs before proceeding.
Submit a Warranty Claim
If your knife requires warranty service:
- Complete our Warranty Service Form
- Include a description of the issue and photos (if possible)
- Ship your knife to us via your preferred carrier
(You pay to ship it to us; we’ll cover return shipping)
Once your knife is received and checked in, you’ll get a confirmation email.
Warranty service typically takes up to 5 business days from the time your knife is checked in. Keep an eye on your inbox, our Services Team may reach out for clarification or approval before completing the work.
When service is complete, you’ll receive a final email with tracking information once your knife is on its way back to you.
Special Note on Automatic Knives (OTF/Switchblades)
If you are sending in an automatic knife, additional legal requirements apply under U.S. Federal Law.
Due to the Federal Switchblade Act, we can only ship automatic knives directly back to customers who are active military, law enforcement, first responders, or Oregon residents. If you qualify, select “Yes” and sign the AKOA form during your service request.
If not, no problem—just choose an authorized Benchmade dealer near you for return delivery.
Request a Part for Self-Service
Need a Replacement Part Instead? Benchmade can ship small parts for self-repair—no need to send in your knife.
You can request:
- Pocket clip & screws
- Handle screws
- Male portion of the pivot screw
- Thumb stud (if applicable)
To request these parts, fill out our Parts Request Form and include your shipping info and knife details.
Note: All other parts must be installed by our service team.
