Yes, Benchmade understands that many customers enjoy personalizing their knives with aftermarket parts. While we do our best to support modified knives, there are some important limitations and requirements.
What Counts as a Modified Knife?
A “Modified Knife” is any Benchmade knife that includes:
- Aftermarket components not manufactured by Benchmade
- Substitutions for original Benchmade parts (e.g., third-party scales, clips, screws, or blades)
Will Benchmade Still Service It?
Yes - but with the following conditions:
- We cannot guarantee full service for knives that have been altered from their original configuration.
- We will not sharpen any blades that were not originally manufactured by Benchmade.
- We reserve the right to decline service or sharpening for any knife we deem unsafe or irreparable due to modifications.
- A $20 reassembly fee may apply for modified knives. We will consult with you prior to any charges.

To have your modified knife serviced, you must complete and include the following form in your package:

Benchmade cannot proceed with service on modified knives unless this signed form is included.
Sending In Your Knife
- Complete and sign the Warranty & LifeSharp Service Request Form.
- Print and include the Liability Waiver for Modified Knives along with your packing slip.
- Ship your knife to the address provided in your service confirmation email.
- If a reassembly fee or other charge is required, we’ll reach out for payment approval before proceeding.
Please Note:
Benchmade is not liable for damage to modified knives or their components while in our care. By submitting a modified knife for service, you acknowledge and accept the conditions outlined in the waiver.
